Annual Quiz

At last Thursday’s club meeting, teams from the NFU, Launceston Farmers Club and Launceston Young Farmers went head to head in the Annual Quiz. Quizmaster Janet Ham created 8 exciting rounds of questions including Who? What? and Where in the South West? There was also an entertaining round where the eyes of local people had to be identified from a photograph!

It was a very close competition, however the YFC team managed to regain the trophy once again. Well done to the team of Sam Northey, Dan Batten, Sadie Cornelious and Natalie Stevens.

Senior Debating

On Tuesday 22nd November members travelled to Fraddon Village Hall for the final of the Senior Debating Competition. The team, consisting of Natalie Stevens, Claire Butter, Tom Merrit, Richard Stanbury and Sophie Wotton, spoke excellently and came 3rd overall. Claire Butter performed exceptionally well to win the shield for best speaker of the evening- congratulations to her for this well deserved achievement.

County Roadshow

On the 17th November, Ed Humber and Morwenna Kinver gave us an insight into the organisation of both Cornwall and National YFC. They explained the structure of the Cornwall YFC committee and the roles of individuals within the county. They also played interactive games which involved all our members.

Bonfire Night

Members and friends headed to Burraton Farm, by kind invitation of the Parker Family, for this Thursday's meeting. Teams were challenged to create a Guy Fawkes, which was judged by club president Janet Ham, following which they proceeded to enhance the blazing bonfire!

We were then treated to a magnificent fireworks display (many thanks to Luke Uglow, Jer Shute and Richard Gribble) and the evening rounded off with a wonderful spread of food and drink.

The evening was organised extremely well and the hard work from everyone involved is very much appreciated.

Indoor Sports Round

On Tuesday 8th November, members travelled to Bodmin for their 1st round of Indoor Sports. Excellent performances from all those who competed in the sports resulted in Lanson achieving an overall FIRST PLACE.

We now compete at the final of Indoor Sports which takes place on Saturday 26th November at Newquay Sports Centre. Very well done to those who took part, thank you to all supporters and best of luck for the final!

Indoor Sports Practice

This Thursday our club meeting was led by Richard Stanbury and Sadie Cornelius- our sports secretaries. They led members through a variety of sports including frisby and relay races in preparation for the first round of sports which takes place on Tuesday at Bodmin College.

Many thanks to Richard and Sadie for organising this evening and very best of luck for the round on Tuesday.
