Visit to Roger Young Landrover

This week, our club meeting was a visit to Roger Young Land Rover at Saltash.

The family run business has gradually increased over the years, now employing more than 80 staff and last year selling over 1000 new and used vehicles. Members were given a very interesting tour of the premises, led by Roger Young. We were shown around the showroom and work shop- which has the capacity for 14 bays, as well as a 4 wheel alignment adjustment area. We were also shown around the 'Engineering Dealership' area- run by Mark Young- where there was a vast range of products from (Nugent) trailers and quad bikes to yard scrapers and livestock crushes. Here we also saw the Isuzu vehicles which are a relatively new dealership for the company.

The members were then very privileged to be given test drives (rides!) in 4 brand new vehicles- Discovery 4, Isuzu Rodeo, Range Rover Sport and the new Range Rover Evoque.  We were particularly impressed with the gadgets that the Evoque had to offer- a dual screen TV (so that the driver can view satnav whilst the passengers watch a film), as well as the automatic parallel parking that the vehicle could perform!

To round off the evening, everyone enjoyed a pasty and took part in a quiz- with Karyn Brookham coming 1st and winning a driving experience. Many thanks to Roger Young and his team for a brilliant visit and kind hospitality.
